New Hanza C1 quarter
Quarter C1 is a quarter within the territory of New Hanza between Hanzas Street, Pulkveža Brieža Street, Slīpā Street and Mihaila Tāla Street.
The new volumes of the quarter in M. Tāla Street and P. Brieža Street have been designed as the historical warehouses, preserving the memory of the place. A new ideology can be observed, in which the new buildings depict 6-storey brick warehouses, and a new, modern, glazed 6-storey volume has been laid on the M.Tāla Street building, becoming the new landmark of the New Hanza.
One of the most important elements of the architectural concept is the design of the facade wall facing the South. The materiality of the south facade is inspired by the traditional design of the brick facade in combination with classic but experimental window rhythm solutions.
Layout of the quarter is modular and efficient to facilitate both the construction process and design costs, as well as the multipurpose use of premises. Both P.Brieža and M.Tāla Street buildings consist of the same 7m planning modules, which create easily adaptable rooms for various functions.
The C1 Quarter project will create a lively, dense, interesting, attractive urban environment, representing the New Hanza City - at the same time creating a support point for further development of the territory and ensuring that Skanste becomes the New Center of Riga.
